Virtual Fall
Credentialing Course
Taking the CAPM Credentialing Course provides a comprehensive opportunity for healthcare professionals to enhance their expertise and make informed decisions in pain management. As a result of completing the course, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the conditions, comorbidities, and syndromes associated with pain, preparing them to effectively manage these issues.
They will develop the ability to distinguish between nociceptive, neuropathic and nociplastic pain conditions through an expert history and physical examination, allowing for accurate diagnosis and targeted treatment. The course also helps learners assess a patient's readiness for therapeutic change and identify obstacles to achieving it, enabling tailored, effective interventions. As scholars, participants will become adept at recognizing and managing chronic pain syndromes, including headaches, back pain, and central sensitization syndromes, while also considering the unique needs of specific patient populations.
Additionally, learners will refine their skills as collaborators, making informed decisions about the most appropriate therapies, whether pharmaceutical, non-pharmaceutical, or interventional. Completing the CAPM course positions participants as experts in the field, empowering them to make significant contributions to patient care and pain management.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this module, participants will be able to:
- Describe the role of interdisciplinary care in chronic pain management.
- Apply Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles to support patients living with chronic pain.
- Evaluate evidence-based interventional pain management options and appropriate referral pathways.
- Compare opioid and non-opioid pharmacological approaches to pain management.
- Assess the benefits, risks, and clinical considerations of medical cannabis for pain management.
- Develop comprehensive, patient-centred treatment plans using a multimodal approach.
- Apply evidence-based pain management strategies to real-world clinical scenarios.
